Funding is limited and competitive, and all applications are subject to formal evaluation and Board approval.

Eligibility

  • RCOF accepts applications from registered Canadian charities and other qualified donees recognized by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

  • No. RCOF does not provide grants directly to individuals.

  • RCOF’s primary focus is Halton Region. However, projects outside Halton may be considered where they align with RCOF priorities and charitable objectives.

  • Yes. Organizations may submit more than one application, although each request is evaluated independently and funding is limited.

Funding & Projects

  • RCOF may support:

    • Capital projects

    • Programmatic initiatives

    • Capacity-building projects

    Priority funding areas currently include:

    • Community

    • Education

    • Environment

    • Indigenous initiatives

  • Strong applications typically:

    • Address a clearly demonstrated community need

    • Show measurable impact and defined outcomes

    • Present realistic implementation plans and budgets

    • Demonstrate organizational capacity and sound governance

    • Align with one or more RCOF funding priorities

  • Yes. Depending on the nature and scale of the project, RCOF may consider both single-year and multi-year funding arrangements.

  • RCOF primarily supports projects and initiatives with defined objectives, outcomes, and community benefit. Limited administrative or operational expenses directly connected to a project may be considered where appropriate.

  • RCOF generally does not support:

    • Grants to Individuals

    • Political activities

    • Projects outside charitable purposes

    • Retroactive funding for completed projects

    • Requests that do not align with RCOF priorities or eligibility requirements

Application Process

  • RCOF accepts and reviews applications on an ongoing basis.

    Review timelines may vary depending on application volume, project complexity, due diligence requirements, and Board meeting schedules.

  • Depending on the project, applicants may be asked to provide:

    • CRA registration information

    • Financial statements

    • Project budgets

    • Letters of support

    • Quotes or project plans

    • Reporting or evaluation frameworks

  • Yes. RCOF will confirm receipt by email once application materials have been received.

  • RCOF staff may answer general questions about the application process; however, applications must be prepared and submitted by the applying organization.

Review & Decisions

  • Applications are reviewed based on factors such as:

    • Community impact

    • Alignment with RCOF priorities

    • Feasibility and readiness

    • Organizational capacity

    • Sustainability and leverage

  • No. Funding is limited and competitive. Meeting eligibility requirements does not guarantee approval.

  • Possibly. RCOF may request clarification or additional information during the evaluation process.

  • Review timelines may vary depending on the complexity of the application, due diligence requirements, and Board meeting schedules.

  • Yes. Successful applicants are generally required to submit financial and narrative reporting appropriate to the scale and complexity of the grant.

  • Yes. Successful applicants will typically be required to sign a Grant Agreement outlining reporting obligations, approved use of funds, and other terms and conditions.
